Affirmations ~ Take Them Into YOUR Marriage!

Place your heart in the hands of God, and He will place it in the hands of a man who deserves it.

Never stop doing little things for your spouse. Sometimes, it's those little things that occupy the biggest part of their heart.

A nice way to honor your spouse? Talk nice about them behind their backs.

Marriage is a work in progress, governed by a lifetime contract.

Many marriages would be better if the husband and the wife clearly understood that they are on the same side.

Let the wife make the husband glad to come home, and let him make her sorry to see him leave.

Marriage in no way diminishes personal identity. The unity of marriage instead promotes unity in duality.

By loving his wife as Christ loved the church, a husband honors Christ in the most direct and graphic way. He becomes the embodiment of Christ's love to his own wife, a living example to the rest of his family, a channel of blessing to his entire household, and a powerful testimony to a watching world.

When God stands as witness to the covenant promises of a marriage, it becomes more than a merely human agreement. God is not a passive bystander at a wedding ceremony. In effect He says, I have seen this, I confirm it and I record it in heaven. And I bestow upon this covenant by My presence and My purpose the dignity of being an image of My own covenant with My wife, the church.

Every successful marriage is made up of three components: A sinful man, a sinful woman, and a perfect God.

Go forward, friends, and love one another well!!! God bless, and see you next time ~

  1. Which one is your favorite?? I think mine is a tie between 'speak nice about your spouse behind their back' and 'sinful man, sinful woman and perfect God'..... but they're all such great little captures of everything that goes in to a marriage! :-) Hope you enjoyed!!

  2. I LOVE "speak nice about your spouse behind their back"! But I'm torn, because marriage as more than a human agreement, making it a covenant with God, is wonderful! Oh...they're all great! lol

  3. Aren't the covenant and "God witnessing" quotes amazing, Delia? I just loved hunting these up, and feeling my heart go warm at the ideals these words express. We can't be all these things all the time - we're human after all - but with God's help we overcome ALL, and He makes everything Good!! :-) Love you sweet friend!!
